About Rockwood

Rockwood is the Clubhouse of the Santa Barbara Woman’s Club. Built in 1892, the Rockwood Inn was destroyed by a fire in 1927, and shortly thereafter was purchased by our membership. What structure remained was significantly renovated by the renowned architectural firm of Edwards, Plunket and Howell, and landscape architect Lockwood de Forrest Jr. consulted on the design of our grounds, working with the impressive boulders and native trees on the property near Mission Creek. The new clubhouse was inaugurated in May, 1928, celebrated by over 1,000 guests.

Set on over two acres among towering live oaks, Rockwood is a beautiful example of Spanish Colonial Revival architecture, and joins Mission Santa Barbara and the Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History to form the Mission Canyon Historical District.
